The work and its setting
A story in mosaic.
This cycle belongs to Gino Bonazza’s work for sacred spaces: a sequence of images conceived in relation to the church’s architecture. The archive preserves it alongside the cycle devoted to the life of Lodovico Pavoni, made for the same setting.
The historical description records twenty panels of eight square metres each. The seventeen available photographs form a partial record: their number does not necessarily correspond to the number of works or panels.
Start with the composition of each panel, then enlarge faces, clothing and backgrounds: the image reads as a narrative from a distance and as a weave of colour up close. The photographs also retain the limitations and markings of the original documentation.
