The work and its setting
A story in mosaic.
The gallery contains two photographs. The first is captioned “Apse with Christ, Saint Blaise and the people (60 m²)”; the second, “Madonna and Child and Pope Paul VI”. These titles are retained as the workshop’s own record.
The apse photograph allows the work to be read in relation to the church interior. The two images document different subjects, but on their own they cannot reconstruct every stage of the commission.
In the apse image, observe the relationship between the central figure, the groups on either side and the space below. The photograph retains its archive quality: enlargement cannot add detail absent from the original.
